Drama is a dynamic subject that it highly enjoyable whilst also teaching transferable skills that students can take into any field of work in the 21st century. With a key emphasis on collaboration, connection, and creativity, Drama students develop attributes essential to being a good leader and team member.

The Drama elective fosters creativity in a supportive and student-centred environment that promotes a sense of play and fun. Students explore performing and play-making techniques, with high energy, project-based learning. They work solo and in groups to learn about and draw on a range of performance styles and theatre practitioners. Students can hone their skills in acting, performing, writing, dramaturgy, directing, set designing, sound designing, lighting designing, make-up designing and costume designing.

This subject is for you if you enjoy working collaboratively to build your Drama skills and knowledge. Students interested in building their confidence, public speaking skills, and stage presence will also enjoy Drama.  

During the subject, may go on excursions to view professional productions, participate in workshops led by professional theatre practitioners, even perform in one of Melbourne’s famous theatres - opportunities abound! Each semester also culminates in a presentation of the students’ work to a wider audience, a chance to share the fun and excitement with friends and family.

Assessments may include:

  • Performance projects

  • Performance analysis

  • Journal

  • Scripted and devised scene work

  • Participation, rehearsal process and collaboration
