Want to be an Engineer? Like programming and mechanics? Robots provide a physical platform for students to design, build and test their programming skills. Having the physical robot allows you to see first-hand how coding and modern systems interact in a way that cannot be expressed virtually. VEX robots also give you a means of solving real-world problems with code outside of a computer interface.

In VEX robotics, you will be able to test and validate your designs at both inner-school and inter-school tournaments. You will have the opportunity to compete with robotics, which will lead you to constantly evaluate and evolve your designs in a fun and engaging way.

The TC Design Process guides students through five stages of purposeful, iterative design practice.

  • Investigating & Defining – Define the problem, conduct research, and develop a design brief.

  • Generating & Designing – Establish success criteria, generate design ideas, and justify the final solution.

  • Planning – Prepare a materials/ingredients list and a project plan or procedure.

  • Producing & Implementing – Demonstrate technical skills and maintain a process journal.

  • Evaluating – Design and carry out testing, and suggest improvements.

This consistent five-stage process is applied across all year levels and subject areas within Technologies, giving students a shared design language and a structured approach to solving real-world problems.
