year long or Semester 1 &2

The FLE to Pre courses combine both the elective and Pre-VCE subjects. Taught as a point-of-need program, students can take this course for one year in preparation for VCE.

This subject is designed for students who have an interest in the health field. This is a valuable stepping stone into VCE Health & Human Development and/or a career in this industry.

The aim of this subject is to explore the key areas of health and demonstrate your knowledge to a range of practical and theoretical application tasks. Students will also have the opportunity to create a connection within the local community.

Topics you will investigate include:

  • The dimensions of health and wellbeing

  • Nutrition

  • The human lifespan

  • Respectful relationships

  • Safety

  • Substances and the dangers of abuse

  • Mental health and wellbeing

  • Australian population groups

Learning tasks will include project based application tasks where students will apply their knowledge through activities such as taking part in the egg baby parenting task. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through kinaesthetic learning tasks where they will be required to develop health promotion campaigns and infographic posters to demonstrate their learning.
