Pre VCE Drama (Stagecraft)
YEAR LONG
Love theatre but don’t want to be in the spotlight? Stagecraft is all about the behind-the-scenes magic that makes a show unforgettable. In this subject, you’ll learn how to design sets, create costumes, run lighting and sound, manage props, and keep a production running smoothly. You’ll get hands-on experience using real theatre equipment, including our upgraded lighting and sound systems and improved costume storage.
You won’t just be learning for fun—you’ll work on real productions. For example, if Stagecraft had been running in 2025, you could have helped bring Legally Blonde to life by:
Building the courtroom set or Elle’s dorm room
Designing lighting for the big dance numbers
Mixing sound for live songs and microphones
Creating costumes for Elle and the Delta Nu girls
Making props like Bruiser’s dog carrier and Paulette’s salon gear
Stage managing quick scene changes and keeping the show on track
Styling hair and makeup to match the characters
Stagecraft is a hands-on, practical subject where you get to be creative, solve problems, and see your ideas come alive on stage. You’ll also get the chance to visit professional theatres, meet industry experts, and learn what it takes to make theatre magic happen safely and professionally.
Whether you dream of working in theatre, film, events, or just love being creative, Stagecraft is the perfect way to learn real skills and be part of something amazing.
