Subject Overview
Discover new ways to be active, challenge yourself, and enjoy physical activity.
The Recreation elective is all about exploring a wide variety of activities beyond traditional competitive sports, helping you find enjoyable ways to stay active that suit your interests, abilities, and lifestyle.
Throughout the semester, you'll participate in activities across a range of physical activity types. You'll develop movement skills, build confidence, work collaboratively with others, and discover how being active can improve your physical, social, and mental wellbeing.
Throughout the semester, you will:
participate in a variety of recreational and lifestyle physical activities
develop and apply movement skills in different environments and activity settings
explore activities that promote lifelong health, fitness, and wellbeing
reflect on your participation and identify physical activities you can enjoy beyond school.
You may have opportunities to participate in:
outdoor and adventure activities
walking, hiking, orienteering, and navigation challenges
cooperative games and team-building activities
community recreation and active lifestyle experiences.
