Subject Overview 

Are you ready to compete, collaborate and take your sporting performance to the next level?   

The Sport elective gives you the chance to experience a range of sports while developing your skills, game understanding and teamwork.  

Throughout the semester, you'll participate in competitive and cooperative sports where you’ll develop sport-specific skills, build on your understanding of tactics and strategies and application of these in match and game play.  

You'll challenge yourself to improve your performance, support your teammates, and develop the confidence, resilience, and decision-making skills needed to succeed in a range of sporting environments. 

Throughout the semester, you will: 

  • develop and apply sport-specific skills across a variety of sports and activities 

  • use tactics, strategies, and teamwork to improve your individual and team performance

  • learn the rules, positions, and game plans that help teams succeed 

  • take on leadership roles such as captain, coach, or official 

  • demonstrate safe and responsible use of equipment and playing spaces. 

Your assessment will be based on: 

  • your skill development and performance 

  • your teamwork and collaboration 

  • your sportspersonship and attitude 

  • your participation and effort 

  • your ability to lead and support others (where applicable).  

You may have opportunities to: 

  • coach and lead practical sessions 

  • organise and manage sporting events such as gala days 

  • represent your school in interschool sport, athletics, swimming, and cross-country events 

  • connect with community sporting organisations through excursions and partnerships. 

Whether you're aiming to improve your skills, take on a leadership role, or experience the excitement of competition, this elective will help you become a more confident, capable, and enthusiastic sportsperson.
